I absolutely love visiting the Great Smoky Mountains. It is a magical place for me to escape and unwind. The panoramic view and natural beauty of the National Park is breathtaking. I have a lot of wonderful memories visiting Tennessee. The Great Smoky Mountains is a fun place for newlyweds. They even have several wedding chapels that are open 24 hours, for just in case. Couples, seniors, families will have plenty of activities to keep them occupied. One thing that I like about traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains is that you can find competitive reasonable rates for cabins, hotels, or whatever lodging you desire. It is worth the drive up the mountain to view the Great Smoky Mountains National Park from Clingmans Dome because it is the highest point on the mountain. You can drive to a certain point and park your car but to get to the dome, you have to walk by foot on a paved road for approximately a mile or so. It is too hard to describe it in words. You have to experience it, to believe it. During the colder months, from December to late March or early April, the road that leads to the dome may be closed. The roads are narrow to travel on because it is a mountain road that could be iced over or slick and hazardous. You can take fabulous pictures at this location. It takes a hour or so to get there from Gatlinburg. You may need to take a light jacket or coat depending on what time of year you travel because it is about 20 degrees colder up there.

This location in the park is preserved to capture the history of the Great Smoky Mountains. The structures reflect that character. You can tour it without even leaving your car, with the car tour. This was very neat! This is a top attraction in the park, so plan on spending at least three hours getting in and out of the park, as well as riding through it.
